Deleting your BarkCheck account

Effective 14 August 2026

You can delete your account whenever you want. This page says how, and exactly what happens to the care records you were part of.

How to delete it

  • Sign in and open your profile.
  • Scroll to Close your account.
  • Choose Delete my account, type DELETE to confirm, and submit.

It happens immediately and it cannot be undone, by you or by us. Your sign-in is removed at the same time, so nothing can log back in.

The same option is in the phone app under your profile.

What happens

Your name, email, phone number, home address, profile and emergency contact are erased. They are not recoverable.

Your profile photo, your home and page photos and your library come off BarkCheck straight away. We keep the files in private storage, where nobody can see them in the app.

The care records you were part of are kept for 7 years and then deleted. Your name is removed from every one of them, including the doses you signed for and the messages you sent.

We keep them because a care record is evidence for both sides. If an animal was hurt, or somebody says a dose was never given, that record is what answers it, and it has to outlive the sit.

Everywhere your name used to appear on a record it now reads “a deleted account”. What a sitter signed and when is still there. Who they were is not.

Why the records stay

A care record belongs to two people. If we deleted the whole record when one of you left, an owner closing their account would erase every sitter proof of work, and a sitter closing theirs would erase the owner evidence that a dose was given. So we delete the person and keep the record, for 7 years after the sit ends, and then it goes too.

What is deleted straight away

  • Your name, email address, phone number, bio, hobbies and city.
  • Your Venmo and Zelle handles.
  • Your notification devices, so nothing is ever sent to you again.
  • Your sign-in, including any Google sign-in linked to it.
  • Your subscription link with our payment provider.

If you have an active subscription, cancel it before you delete the account so you are not billed again. Deleting the account does not by itself refund a period you have already paid for.

If you cannot sign in

Write to support@wickedself.com from the email address on the account and ask us to delete it. We will check it is you, do the same thing described above, and confirm when it is done.
